Plus Size Model Liis Windischmann

Plus sized model Liis Windischmann has been at the forefront of the fashion world for over a decade. She is represented by Ford Models, and works in all aspects of modelling. Her career includes both print, runway and television.
The 5'10" brunette signed with Plus Figures, a now-defunct agency that dominated Toronto's very limited plus-size market in the 1990s. Around the time it shuts its doors Ford Models started its own plus division, and Windischmann has been there since.

For Ford and Windischmann the timing couldn't have been better. Only a couple years earlier Mode magazine began publishing in the U.S. Although it only lasted a few years, the magazine's impact was great and its message was clear: women with curves are beautiful.

Liis has enjoyed a long, successful career as a top model. She has starred in numerous worldwide print campaigns for retailers such as Talbot’s, Eddie Bauer, Laura Plus, Reitmans and Addition-Elle as well as being the face of Laura Plus and Reitmans for several years.

She is advocating size acceptance, and strives to bridge the gap between the "straight size" and the "curvy" fashion world with her projects Walk the Catwalk and The Fenomenal Calendar, a creative project that would celebrate curvaceous beauty.

Crystal Renn Speaks out on being 'Labelled'

Crystal Renn found fame as a size 14 plus-size model, but in recent months she has come under fire for her drastic weight loss dropping to a size 6-8.

Now Renn formerly known as the world’s most famous “plus sized” model has gone on the record in a video post on her model agent’s blog, to defend her right to be whatever size she might be without fear of criticism from the media.

Renn hates being labelled as a "plus-sized" model and refuses to gain weight so she can live up to people's expectations as a plus-sized model.

In an interview on the Ford Models blog, she said: "I think that by placing a title on my head, which is 'plus-size', and then the picture that these people have created in their mind about what plus-size actually is, I've basically failed your expectations just with that."

Crystal - who has battled anorexia in the past - refuses to put on any weight just to please people because she is now in a healthy place with her body and mind.

She said: "I would have to have another eating disorder to live up to that expectation. I had anorexia because someone else set the standard for me and I wanted to follow it."

"If I followed what the public wanted from me. I'd be doing the same thing. I'd have a binge eating disorder. "It's about individual health. You cannot tell if someone is healthy from the outside, because health is different for everybody at different sizes."

Plus Size Model Nancy Hayssen

Plus size model Nancy Hayssen proves that you can be beautiful and sexy at any size!

In her late teens, Hayssen was approached by a photographer family friend and asked to pose for a photo shoot he needed in order to complete his portfolio. The photographer strongly suggested Hayssen consider becoming a plus size model.

Following his suggestion, Hayssen began seeking out modelling work and by the early 1990’s began her modeling career with Peggy Lutz designs. She went onto work with such companies as Hot Topic, Torrid, Igigi, Good House Keeping and Alectra.

Aswell as being a plus size model Nancy Hayssen is also a pilot, online entrepeneur and an accomplished author of the best selling book You Can Be Sexy at Any Size!

"Nancy is Plus Size Perfect and Full Figured Fabulous"

Nancy Hayssen Speaks out on Death of Anorexic Model

In 2007 Plus Size Model Nancy Hayssen posed nude in the controversial anti-anorexia billboard ad featured in Times Square, NYC. Nancy weighed 169 pounds and posed alongside anorexic model Isabelle Caro who weighed barely 59 pounds.

In January French model Isabelle Caro died aged just 28 years old after battling anorexia for almost 15 years. Now Plus size model and author Nancy Hayssen speaks out asking 'Who is to blame?".

She believes the root of the problem is the three Hollywood lies we’ve been told that destroy the way women feel about themselves:

1. No matter how much you weigh, you’re still too fat
2. No matter how skinny you are, you’ll never be skinny enough
3. No matter what you look like, you’ll never be good enough

Nancy says, “I feel sexy and confident of my voluptuous body. I believe ‘Sexy is a State of Mind.’”

“The fashion industry and Hollywood have spread the myth that to be “Thin Is In.”

Is the message Hollywood really sending to women that: “You need to starve yourself to look sexy and beautiful…starve yourself literally to death?”
